[Epiphany 5B] joy sadhana

At like 4pm today, I realized that if I were going to help set up, I would need to leave, on my bike, right around then. I was still tired from retreat (and still experiencing delayed reaction fear from having gotten hit by a car), so I opted for the bus.
Bus is scheduled to pick up at 4:27, but I left my house at ~4:20 despite the fact that usually it picks up after 4:30.
At 4:38 a #96 went by in the other direction and I texted Julia: "My bus seems to be significantly late ... sigh."
And at 5:13pm: "And now the second 96 bus has passed me going the other way... <expletive>"
Bus arrived at 5:35pm, dropped me off at 5:57pm. I actually arrived just in time to take Communion. I got to collect the Offering and touch base with Pr. Lisa about the relevant things (though I totally forgot that I'd brought sticky nametags to drop off).
Waiting for the bus I was feeling like I really didn't wanna go to church, so it was nice to have positive feelings actually being there (despite my still feeling tired).

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. And they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:2, Handel's Messiah)
Good things about today:
["anything that you're looking forward to, that means you're facing tomorrow with joy, not trepidation," as Ari says]

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. And they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:2, Handel's Messiah)
Good things about today:
- sleep (I still felt tired today, though I started waking up before my alarm)
- getting to take a real shower
- morning church
- There was only one Super Bowl mention during service, and it was a gracious, generous, nonpartisan prayer.
- The woman whose name escapes me was in front of me in the Receiving Line, and Molly greeted her by name, so now I can re-teach myself her name without having to admit to her that I'd forgotten it (though yes, theoretically I'm trying to cultivate being upfront about stuff like that).
- Elizabeth F. introduced me to Carolyn (whom I think Chelsea C. had introduced me to before) and said I was a good hugger. I asked Carolyn if she wanted a hug and she was like, "Sure," and so I did (and felt kinda awkward, because having someone be like, "demonstrate this skill you have" is always kinda awkward [related: my typing skills go way down when someone is standing right there dictating at me] ... it occurred to me later that Giving Good Hugs is totally one of my superpowers) and she affirmed that that was a strong hug. I said various people have told other people I'm a good hugger and I'm starting to feel like I should be collecting testimonials or something.
- Andrea R. invited me out to brunch with folks -- though I declined, on account of being tired etc.
- There was only one Super Bowl mention during service, and it was a gracious, generous, nonpartisan prayer.
- Housemate made French toast and I got to have some.
- impromptu guitar+singing (followed by poi) in my house this afternoon
- Houseguest did dishes again.
- Baby's first follower on Tumblr (someone I'd reblogged but hadn't started Following yet). Yes, Ari, That Tumblr.
- Julia restocked CWM's Communion juice supply.
- My mom emailed me to let me know it was almost halftime show time. I'd turned on the tv a few minutes prior (guessing it would be ~8pm -- though I had to pull up the channel on the Internet, as I hadn't thought to look it up in advance) but I'd almost asked the Internet to tell me when it was halftime show time, so I appreciated it.
- Scott called -- on his way to something, so we didn't talk long, but we made plans for tomorrow night.
- bought milk
- emailed back about Sophia Circle prep tomorrow evening
- writeups
["anything that you're looking forward to, that means you're facing tomorrow with joy, not trepidation," as Ari says]
