I told my mom what Prof.B. had said and she said it sounded like I was doing good.  "Yeah, I try not to suck," I replied.  "Who has that line?  Buffy?  Willow?"  "Oh yeah!  'I didn't mean to... suck.'"  I am forever connecting things to Joss lines (and song lyrics) and we are quel impressed that my mom made a connection that didn't occur to me.

(Also: rock on, classics.  I now get the Harvard Magazine delivered to my house -- by virtue of being an employee, I suppose -- and the cover story is "Resisting Temptation: Economics discovers the irrational."  The cover image?  "detail from the 1909 oil painting Ulysses and the Sirens by Herbert James Draper"  I am amused that it is "©The Bridgeman Library/Getty Images")

I was looking at a catalog recently, and it has t-shirts saying "I'm Too Sexy To Be" and comes in 40, 50, and 60.  I would enjoy these shirts worn by someone older than the emblazoned age, but generally they really bug me.  The blurb says: "You're not getting older....You're getting better!  And our tees let the whole world know it," but that's not how I read them.

From TVGuide, February 27, 2006, interview [Craig Thomashoff] with Jorja Fox:
What do you do when you're not working on the show?  I've had a theater company for seven or eight years.  A group of us produced a musical last year.  It's called "Dear Bernard," [and it's] about a woman from a small town in England who moves to America to try and make it as a star.  We're taking the show to London in June.

Will you be in it?  I wish I had the talent to do musical theater.  I'd put together a band and go on the road.  We do have a lunchtime jam band on the CSI set, though.  Lots of crew people are in it.  Gary Dourdan (Warrick) plays a mean guitar and bass.  Robert David Hall [Dr. Robbins] plays guitar.  Marg Helgenberger [Catherine] plays piano.

Is an of this jamming going to show up in CSI?  I have been pitching an all-musical CSI episode for five years.  Grissom is in the lab and some chemical affects him badly and this whole thing takes place in his head.  While he's delirious, the show becomes a musical.  Everybody would have to sing.  Quite probably it would be the last episode ever.

We watched DS9 at lunch today, though Eric says it's his least favorite of the series (save Enterprise, of course) and he dislikes syndication anyhow 'cause (he says) they cut out 1-5 minutes of showtime to fit in more advertising.  And then I Googled it 'cause it was a two-parter ("Homefront"/"Paradise Lost"  Episodes 4.10 & 11, first aired January 1 & 8, 1996).

And we saw an ad for CSI and I thought I heard Grissom call someone a "damn punk."  I was very confused thinking it was an ad for tomorrow's ep but no, it was CSI: Weekdays on Spike TV.  First Weekends on UPN and now this?  CSI is turning into Law and Order.  (Also: Please note that we were watching Spike TV because channels like Cartoon Network were not coming in.  The Weather Channel was not coming in.  wtf?)

One of the people who's been working on scheduling something with Prof.B. through me said in an e-mail today, "Thanks for carrying the water on this."  Okay, that phrase is a definite new one on me.

Though it's all relative.  I used the phrase "geek out" around RA today and she loved it and said she was totally going to steal it and I was like, "I can't even remember when I first heard that phrase."

She is still working on reorganizing Prof.B.'s office and I'm gonna end up helping and she said her plan was definitely open to change and if I had any input I should please share because I seemed "naturally organized" -- whereas she has to work at it.  I can't speak for her own organizational inclinations -- she always seems fairly together to me -- but yeah, organized is like how I live.

I have my website back.  Turns out I had renewed hosting but not domain registration.  Not that anyone told me I had to renew domain registration.  *sighs*  So relieved to have it back.  May even do a brief first-of-the-month update.  Sleep, what? [Edit: Website updated. Now I have guilt that I am considering going to bed without having fully read/responded to LJ comments/ my flist. And I've already decided definitively that posting thinky thoughts about today's DS9 and [livejournal.com profile] mari4212's post is a tomorrow project. But, completionist though I am, sleep is good. It is near 11pm as I write this. Especially because tomorrow night is new CSI and Without a Trace, so I'll already be getting to bed late for sure tomorrow night. Le sigh.]

ARRIII!!!!  Why did you not tell me about Grissom/Sara?  You and your FatherFigureKinkOfAngstyHotness (tm [livejournal.com profile] meyerlemon).  [livejournal.com profile] rhipowered's talk about Grissom/Sara pretty much sold me on the pairing in theory anyway, and since I've decided to start watching regularly despite not having all the canon I suppose I really should get over my issues with the fact that I haven't seen most of the canon.  And 4 seasons are out on DVD!  And of course MLN has all of them.  Though the moratorium on AV requests hasn't been lifted yet, which makes me procuring them a biotch. Though there is Cambridge.  Plus, of course, when do I have time?  Somehow I doubt this is going to stop me.

[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: Dude, you ship Giles with people.  You'll understand the Grissom/Sara thang.
[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: Seriously, he's kinda like that.
[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: I think he is, at least.  I don't know a ton of Buffyverse.  Grissom's a bit more withdrawn and Angst With Asperger's.
[...]
[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: Grissom and Sara met a while ago.
[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: Like, before the show started.
[livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: He taught a lecture that she attended.

Do I need to say more?  Ari, why are you not watching this show and pimping fic to me?

Also: thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rhipowered: The MentorSex song (her phrasing; is "Hands Clean" by Alanis Morissette)

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] rhipowered.

CSI Season 6 premiere tonight.  (1 hour, 9pm Eastern Time.)

(I've watched sporadically since it began, and I saw the Tarantino finale last season, so now that I'm home I've decided to try out actually watching the show regularly.)
