abusing the intelligence pool again

I don’t have an article in this Thursday, which is fine, but for next Thursday (which means due this tomorrow evening; aren’t deadlines a bitch?) i’m writing about the reconstruction in Iraq. This means getting caught up on blogs, and there may well be a roundup of linkage after i’m done (though there’s a half a dozen other update entries i want to get done as well and of course i don’t have time for any of it).
The point of this entry is to solicit intelligent writings on the issue. I don’t really have time to engage in debate, but feel free to post a comment with your personal opinion if you’d like, though what i’m really looking for is links to articles. I am of course quite capable of researching on my own, but i figure you all probably float in different information pools than i do, so i want to take advantage of that.

However, not everything is glum. History proves, time and again, that human memory is short. Many folks expected reconstruction in Iraq to "be as easy as it was in Germany." I can't find the link to the quote I heard on NPR related to German reconstruction but here is a decent article to start you off. The comments make some pointed "this is Bush propaganda" hits but one needs to balance everything they read.
