My dad suspects the author exaggerates, but this article is interesting nonetheless.

Um, does Anne Lamott want me to hate her? Because the first page accomplishes that (also makes me lose lots of respect for her) and the second page is an incredibly overextended metaphor which i didn’t really like even when it was just a metaphor on the first page.

Ahhh, so it WAS footwear. I think when we were chatting about it, I said "shoes," which would mean I got the general sense and you got the general sound. Interesting how people remember things. I liked your Cool Whip mistake though.

How could someone connect footwear to shanshu? Is it a sole/soul thing?

Oh that's cute. The ones i've been seeing just go "shoe... like the second syllable of Shanshu."

Both the sound of "shoe" and the soul/sole thing are pretty desperate connections to make. Joss likes to be vague, but in a deliberate way. That didn't seem deliberate.
