I seem be acquiring myself ATPo readers. Does this mean i get more discussion on my LJ? ‘Cause that would be cool.
I start a new job on Monday, so there may be less posting in the future, but anyone who’s been here very long knows i post my whole life on this thing. Amount of posting will depend in part on how interesting my job is and how thought-provoking my commute-readings are. (And also how on-the-ball i am about stuff my dad e-mails me.)
People who know me should call me and stuff, ‘cause i miss people.
I recently reread Browning’s “My Last Duchess,” and while i still don’t understand the mad love people have for it, i do see the Bluebeard implications like whoa.
I saw the Elizabeth Berkley Twilight Zone episode ("Sanctuary," 1.20 - 20 November 2002) and thought of

Also watched some Blind Date with the brother. Hadn’t done that in a while. Had forgotten about the 1-900-WE-ARE-18 etc. ads. It occurred to me that the ads totally target heterosexual men, but how many of those watch Blind Date type shows? The non-date ads are pretty evenly split between men, women, and general. And there’s InteractiveMale.com for gay men.
On Sunday i finally saw Il Postino (The Postman). This is advertised as a romance, but really it’s all about poetry and Pablo Neruda -- which is honestly far more interesting than the romance plotline (which, incidentally, gets about as much screentime as the communism subplot). And apparently it’s actually based on an opera called Il Postino Di Pablo Neruda. My guess at the Italian is that it said something like “liberally translated from the opera...”
