~10 hours of sleep = awesome

I did laundry, washed dishes, and ate something resembling real food.  I was okay with this lazy day (I caught up on lj more [if there's anything I haven't responded to, feel free to poke me], managed an email or few, read and feedbacked some more remix fics) until late afternoon when I was feeling fadey (sorry I wasn't very talkative, Megan -- I actually considered asking to phone you 'cause it's so much easier to tell stories that way).  I decided the precarious piles taking over my room were finally bothering me too much and so I dealt with them albeit minimally, which made me feel a bit better.

My copy of Blessid Union of Souls' Home on CD finally arrived today, so per [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel's request, here's "End of the World."

Today's mail also brought me my yearly MFA gift membership from my mom.  Yay!

The gas and electric bills also came, so I signed up for e-bill (and also finally went Paperless for my banking) and read a little about the NStar Green program I'd seen in the metro the other day, plus paid the RCN bill and emailed the roomies what they owe me.  (On the to-do list for after the next paycheck comes, ASP 2008-2009 subscription.)
P.S. May 12, USPS, 1-cent increase for First-Class Mail letters (thanks to Meredith mentioning this at group on Thursday).

Should I go visit my brother in CA (the plan would be a day in San Diego and then some time in L.A. where he's living during his internship) even though we're also doing 10 days in Greece and Italy later in the summer (which planning I totally need to get on top of, btw)?
hermionesviolin: (anime night)
The rain last night turned into a bit of snow.  It was nice to wake up to white on the ground and so refreshing to actually have cold weather (though I do feel bad that my brother's car was iced over this morning).

Looking at the weather forceast, they're saying temps back in the upper 40s this coming week.  On Friday they were saying we were finally gonna have a week of winter weather -- like temps in the teens.  I'm miffed.

And, um, that's about the extent of my news for the day.

USPS came out with childrens book stamps.

So, I finished my FemGen story and didn’t feel that it sucked. The recipient hasn’t feedbacked it yet (but she hasn’t posted her own fic for the ‘thon, so I figure she hasn’t read it yet) but I got 3 positive feedbacks. And zomg, one of them actually recced it on her journal. (Hey, Ari, she recced two of your fics.)

Also: I suck at coming up with requests when I’m signing up for ficathons, so for FemGen I put Dawn as my first request and River as my second, and my prompts were just words you could go a million ways with. Since they’re two of my favorite characters, I figured odds were in my favor that the fic I got wouldn’t suck... hopefully. Gee, can we tell that I’ve been burned in ficathons before? So I see [livejournal.com profile] alixtii is writing for me and he often writes good stuff and I hop over to his LJ and see it has River and Dawn and the Authorial Summary is “There are only so many stories,” and we all know what a sucker I am for stories.

Oh so much to read. (And I feel lame that I spent so much time in front of the tv screen tonight when I could have been reading lj entries of substance or whatever.)

Five Things Archive (for Five Things... stories in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel the series 'verse)

Multifandom Feedback Challenge (signups end Jan. 13)
I think there was something like this a while back and I meant to go through the works of the authors who signed up ‘cause people who *want* feedback are exciting, but I don’t think I ever did. Anyway, I get whiny ‘cause no one comments on my stuff, so I signed up. Though now of course I am in one of my “Everything I have written is shite save a very few things” headspaces.

And I go back to work tomorrow -- a full 5-day week, a rarity -- and I've really gotta stop doing the late-to-bed thing. Three of us have to be up in ~5 hours, and we're all still up; though at least two of us are heading to bed shortly.

P.S. Postal rates went up.
