offsetting the distress of the previous entry

The flight to Edinburgh was fine, and on the bus ride from the airport was just gorgeous -- which was even more striking because it was just residential houses.

I hadn't realized the Fringe Festival was going on as well [The Bacchae is the International Festival, so it hadn't occurred to me to see if there were other festivals going on at the same time], so in addition to street musicians and street performers, I took in 3 theatre performances last night (including Corpus Christi, which I cried through so much of). Oh, and I tried absinthe (and was unimpressed).

I didn't know you were in Edinburgh! I am too. I'm doing a show, you should come see us- it's The Oxford Revue, at C main venue on Chambers street (which is just off the street with the International Festival Theatre on it). What have you seen so far that's been good?

Okay, I'll buy a ticket for tomorrow (my last day in Edinburgh). Do you wanna grab a drink or something? I'm flying out tomorrow evening (I should have just done an overnight bus to London -- I'm flying to Prague from London first thing in the morning -- but being last-minute makes me stupid). My UK mobile (previous post) is probably the best way to reach me, since I'm staying at a hostel, so Internet access is limited and costs money.

Six Women Standing in Front of a White Wall was really interesting. Corpus Christi was well-done. I saw Sweeney Todd tonight, and that was well-done as well -- though as so often with musicals, I sometimes couldn't quite make out the words over the accompaniment.

Hey! While you're in Edinburgh, do you think you could score me a new window decal for my car, from the University of Edinburgh? I can tell you where to look for one, and I'll pay you back. Please? I can't get my old one off my old car. :(

Enjoy Edinburgh!!! Isn't it beautiful? DEFINITELY go to Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat. That's where I took the picture in my icon.

Yeah, no problem. Tomorrow's my last day, but I can try to pick one up for you.

Oh, wonderful! Okay, the university shop was on that main street (Nichols? Clark? Main?) that runs perpendicular to the High Street and Princes Street. As you're walking away from High, it's on your left, after the bridge, I think. Well, it should be near the other university buildings. It's just a sticker for my rear window. It shouldn't cost that much, but whatever it is, I'll pay you back. Thank you!!

Looking at the map, I'm guessing that's North Bridge/South Bridge which as you go farther away from Princes St. and High St. turns into Nicolson St. and then Clerk St. and so on :)

(And Googling suggests 7-11 Nicolson Street as an address, so that sounds promising.)

Sorry. I went to the store and didn't see any decals in the display, so I asked if they had any. They said they used to a while ago but they don't now, though they're trying to restock.

Oh, well. Thank you for trying! I really appreciate it. I hope you had a good vacation. :)

No problem. And thanks. I definitely did have a good vacation.

Hi... friends with Allison...

Hi, I'm friends with Allison... and also in Edinburgh, but I was here for the Fringe, as well as my grandmother trying to buy me a ticket to the Military Tattoo, and well because it seemed like a good idea. Where are you staying? Do you want to meet up for coffee or a drink or something?

I'm staying at the Backpacker's Hostel (http://homepage.edinburghbackpackers.com/) (it's behind the Princes St. Burger King). Tomorrow's my last day, but I definitely have time for coffee or whatever. My UK mobile (number in previous post) is probably the best way to reach me, since Internet access at the hostel is limited and costs money.

Sorry we didn't get to meet up. Hope you enjoyed your time in Edinburgh.

Yeah, I'm actually still here. I kind of got stuck. Edinburgh has become my traveling quicksand. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet up as well. I didn't actually realize you were here until you were gone I guess. I'm sure we'll meet one day.
