I'd been thinking recently about how I don't actually tithe but I feel like I should, so this was the additional motivator I needed to actually bust out my debit card/checkbook.
This is what my list currently looks like:
* Queer Soup
* Doctors Without Borders
* Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)
* First Book
* Heifer International
I need to check my bank account and figure out how much I can afford to donate.
(In lighter news, if anyone wants to come up with a reason we could invent for me to travel using FormerUnitHead's remaining research budget funds? :) )

But if I can give the same amount to an abuse survivor organisation or similarly worthy charity, then I've truly spoken with my paycheque.

I haven't made my donations yet, and now I'm really interested to hear why you don't like BARCC. A local friend of mine who's a sexual assault survivor recommended it as a place to support, so I haven't done a lot of research into it myself.

I found your journal through googling BARCC livejournal since I wanted to learn more about BARCC.
Regardless I'm enjoying reading your livejournal. We have a few things in common. I used to go to Smith as well, but I transferred. And I'm now living in Somerville though temporarily.
I don't use my livejournal anymore, but if you add me I'll keep reading yours
Take care,
Erin

I'm really curious to hear why its the worst place ever, because I just got an internship there. I haven't started yet.. What should I be watching out for? What was your experience?
( I found this journal because I googled BARCC livejournal)
