Grilled cheese for lunch two days in a row and spanikopita for dinner last night. We knew it had to end sometime, and lo i was underwhelmed with dinner tonight. I survived, though.

Didn't go to the j-term showing of Ponette tonight. Watched The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, And Her Lover and then Earth Girls Are Easy with Emma and Anna.

The first movie was really fucked up, and we almost stopped watching, but once you get past the first scene or two it starts making sense. The accents are thick [making a lot of the lines difficult to hear], and a few bits were gratuitous (though not always related to the film's NC-17 rating) but it's quite compelling. Titus Andronicus notwithstanding, it's not a movie anyone should have recommended to Emma, though. [livejournal.com profile] sexonastick, have you seen it? I thought of you. David Lynch meets, i don't know, Ginger Snaps or something. (I really do need to see that movie at some point.)

I first heard about Earth Girls Are Easy watching Third Rock from the Sun with my father and have been meaning to see it ever since. Hearing Emma's description of it i fully expected to hate it, and indeed the first half hour or so pained me quite often. I actually enjoyed a lot of it despite myself, though. And oh the slash ;)

[livejournal.com profile] ahlksey on the Boston terrorist threat: "I think the Steelers actually hired them to bomb Boston on inaugration day so that they wouldn't have to play the Pats in the AFC championships."

My website's going live February 1. W00t. (Should probably stop working on the recs pages and start actually working on everything else.)

was and remains, for me, the weirdest movie i've ever seen (except maybe for 102 dalmatians whilst on vicodin). weird, and scary, but gorgeous. peter greenaway is probably a genius, although his films give me (well worth it) nightmares.
