Whoever commented anonymously told Cate i was posting her e-mails. Note to self, what i did was technically illegal: "you have to ask permission of the email writer if it is okay with them to post in a public forum/space." I could edit the entries, but i didn't want to bother and i use LJ a lot as my own record, so i just privatized the appropriate entries, so if you find yourself looking for a piece of the discussion and find the entry inaccessible, that's why.
[Edit: Okay, so i was trying to do Spanish reading and i was thinking about how i need to remember that it's not my place to make other people's stuff public and about how i define my boundaries of what feels appropriate to me to make public of other people's stuff and i was thinking about how while i understand this law, it seems almost counter-productive because there's no law stopping your from publicly paraphrasing an argument you had with someone, for example, but it is illegal to publicly post the exact words of the argument -- and no i'm not calling the back-and-forth between Cate and myself an argument -- if you had it over e-mail (and, i assume, also to, without the other party's permssion, record a verbal conversation and publicly post an exact transcript).]
Also, grr, i really like catching up with friends but my homework is never gonna get done this way. No wonder i've been avoiding AIM all semester.
