Reading the Table of Contents always fills me with mixed emotions. Some of the items aren’t that important to me or i have mixed feelings about, but there’s always at least one item that gives me hope and at least one item which makes me incredibly sad and/or angry and/or frustrated.

homosexual activists have attempted to blame the child abuse scandal in the Catholic church on to "pedophiles," "immature priests," a "culture of secrecy" or "abuse of power" within the church hierarchy. These are bogus arguments

Um, what crack are you smoking?

Ex-homosexual Steve Bennett, founder of Steve Bennett Ministries, just issued a press release on the case of Vermont homosexual foster parents who have been arrested for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old male in their house. These "foster parents" sexually assaulted the boy on four occasions over a two-week period. If convicted, John Unwin and Edward Flanders face 40 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bennett observes: "It was just a matter of time. This is exactly why we say NO to homosexual adoptions and parenting."

Oh yes, because heterosexual abuse is so uncommon. I mean, men never molest young girls. I’m torn between wanting to cry, spit, and vomit.

This makes me happy:
The Salvation Army in Portland, Maine is losing $60,000 in funding because it refuses to provide health care benefits for homosexual domestic partners. For more on this story, go to: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=Culturearchive200206CUL20020620a.html

I’m sure the Salvation Army does a lot of good things, so in that sense it’s a shame that it’s losing funding, but maybe this will prompt them to offer domestic partner benefits.

I’m surprised they didn’t mention this, from EqualMarriage.org: "The June 19 Constitutional Convention postponed consideration of H4840 until July 17."

H4840 is a proposed amendment to the Massachusetts constitution which would define marriage as only between one man and one woman. It includes the following language:

"... only the union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Massachusetts. Any other relationship shall not be recognized as a marriage or its legal equivalent, nor shall it receive the benefits or incidents exclusive to marriage from the Commonwealth, its agencies, departments, authorities, commissions, offices, officials and political subdivisions."

Oh, and because i need more reasons to hate the Religious Right, [livejournal.com profile] sk8eeyore posted a link to this.

hehe. Yep, my name is Sarah. :) I guess I should make this more apparent on my user info page or something.

Smith seems like a really cool place to go to school. I looked at it briefly when I was a junior, but I had pretty much settled on Hollins, which is a much tinier, lesser-known women's college in Virginia; I really love it...

Well now that you posted the Google "Sarah is" it's pretty obvious. It's not all that necessary given that most people reading your LJ know you in real life, it just gets odd when people only know you through LJ.

Smith is in general a wonderful place, though it has its problems at times. I'm glad you're happy where you are, though.
