My lover spoke and said to me,
"Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.
The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me."

Please note, the late Rich Mullins and very much alive Michael Card are, in true fashion, bards and Michael Card paraphrased* the Song of Songs as follows:
Arise, my love, my lovely one come,
Winter is past and the rains are gone.
The flowers appear, it's the season of song,
My beautiful one, arise and come with me.

Who is it that appears like the dawn?
As fair as the moon, as bright as the sun?
Show me your face, let me hear your voice.
My beautiful one, arise and come with me.

Set me like a seal on your heart,
For love is unyielding as the grave.
The flash of it is a jealous fire,
No flood can quench,
For love is as strong as death.

Arise my love and come with me
Before the dawn breaks and the shadows flee.
You ravished my heart with just one glance
My beautiful one, arise and come with me.

Do not arose or awaken love
Until it so desires.

Arise, my love, my lovely one come,
The Winter is past and the rains are gone.
The flowers appear, it's season of song,
My beautiful one, arise and come with me.

I am my love's, my beloved is mine.
Arise and come with me.
<contented sigh> I may have to dig that song out and play it now. Thanks for the memory.
*Actually, he probably translated it from the original more than he paraphrased but I don't have my reference material here to verify that.

You are entirely welcome. It was the Scripture reading at First Churches this past Sunday.

Are you in love? That sounds awfully romantic, at least to a man.

Ah that i were. Song of Songs is about a lover and a beloved, but this was from the Scripture reading at the church service i went to on Sunday and i really liked the sentiment, about beginning again and all, since i'm starting a new year at Smith.
