I was thinking of going to NYC the weekend of June 21, but coming on Thursday or Friday to make a long weekend of it. The two people i haven't met (and who are thus a major reason to go all the way to NYC) will be away until June 22. I would stay until Monday or Tuesday, but i need to be back at the library for training those days. At least, i think i do. Michele is torn between wanting me back for those days and not wanting to cut into my vacation.

Edit: Michele says i'll pick up this stuff (the new system) easily so i shouldn't worry about missing those training days (and it's not like those are the only days i'll have to learn the new system before i have to actually use it with the public) and i shouldn't let it keep me from my friends. So arriving in NYC Thursday and leaving Tuesday? How long do you all wanna put up with me? Be honest.

Edit the second: I think we have already established that i am a big fan of having a Plan. So if anyone (particularly those i'm visiting) has suggestions for stuff i should do while in NYC, feel free to suggest. (I wanna go back to the Met to see William -- hmm, and this looks interesting -- and maybe go to the MoMA, but other than that i'm open to suggestions.) Might be nice to meet some of y'all's mythical friends but i'll settle for just hanging out with offbalance and quasisonic and oatmilk and antheia (though even just hanging out, plans = good).

tranceballerina and lilithchilde both see June 28/29 as the best weekend to come visit me. How do you two feel about visiting the same weekend?

I wanted to visit laynamarya, but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to.

And Joe and Jonah, who may or may not be reading this, should call me so we can make plans.

And because everyone keeps asking me:

I leave for England on July 5 and return August 15.
August 24 i go back to Smith.

yii...have just been informed by the parentals that they're going to be working on something in the house the weekend of the 20/21/22, making it unfit for visitors. (Which is both good, as said house has been in a shambles of late, and bad, because of obvious reasons). Also adding annoyance to this is the fact that Friday the 20th is one of the few fridays in the entire summer in which I have to work until 5. Blah. I'm very sorry. :(

However, this being said, I still very much want to hang out with you at some point, and give you the going-to-England present I've been planning since February. So hopefully we can work out something, like dinner (I've never been to Zen Palate, which is on Union Square and is supposedly an excellent vegetarian restaurant) for the time in which you are here.

Oh, bother. I could say something like, "If it's safe enough for you all to live in, then i can be there too, on someone's floor," but i (mostly) respect people's desires to not have visitors when their abodes are shambly. This does however mean i have to arrive the 22 because Kate and Del are at Martha's Vineyard until then and i am NOT paying for housing while i'm in NYC. Unless one of your friends whom i don't know wants to put me up, but i wouldn't want to impose. I'm not scheduled to work until the evening of June 26, so i could arrive on Sunday and leave on Wednesday or Thursday -- or, as i said, i could shack up with strangers ;)

Present? Aw, you're so sweet. And Zen Palate sounds like a fine choice for dinner.

aack. I'm sorry about this. I didn't think there'd be a problem, but they sort of presented a united 'please no visitors for the last couple weeks in june' request yesterday for a whole bunch of reasons (the house being at the forefront). *sigh* I will have my own place soon, oh yes I will, and things like this won't be an issue. :/

Still, I'd very much like to see you/hang out/etc, so just tell me what day(s) you're up for, and I'll start finding ideas. I'm up for anything (with the exception of the Angelica kitchen, for reasons I'm sure that you can understand).

When i first posted about coming to NYC some time back, antheia said i could sleep on their floor, so your parents "no visitors" request is less than evil.

Yes. There was much relief about both of those things.

(it was a bit unexpected, but they request so little of me, it's almost impossible to turn them down when they *do* ask something. [well, that, and it's their house, yadda yadda.] You know?)
