My mommy is kind of awesome, in case I haven't mentioned that before.

She has a way more overworked (and underpaid) version of my job, and she still hasn't killed anybody. She's also back on Church Council and her mother's been seriously declining for the past nearly seven years, and she still manages to be gracious and loving and generous and patient with people.

As I (slowly) grow and mature, my mom's a really good model for how to be loving with people (even/especially people one doesn't particularly like), and my more long-standing propensity to (want to) care for people I care about is, I expect, due largely to her influence/model.

I usually invoke the post-retirement ladies of the UCN I grew up in when I roll my eyes at "woe, I am getting old," but today is my mom's 50th birthday. Yeah, when did that happen? Both my parents are required to live long and healthy lives before dying of something quick and painless.

from conversation with mjules last night:
I like your Mom. Almost as much as I like my Mom.
If I could get my Mom to check/update her LJ more often, I'd suggest introducing them. But I suspect it's a lost cause.
She calls me periodically. "What's my blog password again?"

Before he left this afternoon, B asked me to check the weather, and so I read him the Winter Storm Warning.
Winter Storm Warning for Southeast Middlesex County, MA

This morning when I asked about a contingency plan for one of tomorrow's meetings (saying that _I_ would be here, but I wasn't sure anyone else would be), he was all, "The weather's unpredictable..." but when he left this afternoon he said to call him tomorrow morning about whether I was coming in or not (I reiterated that probably I of all people would in fact make it in to the office).

I was actually surprised that we didn't get any official emails reiterating the University's Inclement Weather Policy or anything.

Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

Five good things about today:
1. we successfully fit all the meetings we needed to into tomorrow -- though it's going to snow, so...
2. porn is my coping mechanism
3. cranberry juice
4. gummi letters (yes, I'm sure they have gelatin, but...)
5. going to bed early

Three things I did well today:
1. [gym] 30+min weight room
2. I made the tables format the want I wanted/needed them to in Powerpoint.
3. I finally actually left feedback on (some of) Ari's holiday fics.
Bonus: I washed dishes.

Two things I am looking forward to (doing [better]) tomorrow:
["anything that you're looking forward to, that means you're facing tomorrow with joy, not trepidation," as Ari says]
1. Rest and Bread service
2. hearing about [redacted, v. 2.5?]
Bonus: feeling less tired
