wtf, lj?

My dad's finally actually getting an LJ account, and when he went to do it he got the following message:

The username you entered is that of an account which has been deleted and purged. If you wish to use this username, you must first purchase a rename token for an existing account.

If the username isn't being used by anyone, why can't you take it from scratch rather than having to rename an existing account?

This is my exciting life some days.

I did ~20min in the weight room this morning ... and spent most of my day in PowerPoint.  There wasn't any of the crazymaking "Why won't this work?" (though its default settings are sometimes annoying and I wish I knew how to change them -- this is true of Word, too) and it wasn't so repetitious as to feel tedious, but it definitely swallowed up most of my day.  Bonus: we still managed to stay on top of various meeting re/schedulings.

Tomorrow's the last day of class (for my prof, that is; the big first year course has three more weeks after tomorrow).  I agreed to come in at 7:30am -- which is earlier than I'm even usually at the gym.  I'm really glad church group was moved to Tuesday this week so I can relax tonight and go to bed early.

Good things about today included getting the following response to a crit-heavy fic feedback: "Thank you for such lovely, meaty feedback!  [...]  I'm glad the stuff that worked for you did, and your comments about the other stuff are food for thought. Thank you again for such delicious crit-heavy feedback! It's very flattering to be the subject of such attention and thought; I really appreciate it."
