I've actually been looking forward to the Farmers Markets starting up again, and today I bought actual vegetables at the supermarket. I've been reading French Women Don't Get Fat and trying to be more conscious about the food I eat.
I saw a big purple eggplant and thought, "I could actually buy that and cook it." I didn't, in part because I'm leaving town Thursday afternoon/evening so I'm hesitant to buy much that will go bad, but I'm actually thinking about meals I could make.
(I have partially used containers of guacamole and of hummus in my fridge. Should I be concerned about them going bad at any point? They're in plastic containers with lids.)

My favorite moment in recent memory was tonight I hugged Tiffany goodbye after book study and said I'd see her in two weeks 'cause next Sunday I'd be at my college reunion and she said something about wishing me well around "conversations that will be troublesome for you." I so appreciated her awareness and respect (since she's unlikely to have quite the problems I do with my liberal bastion of an alma mater).

I don't need a day of obligation to say this, but my mom is awesome. She and my father deserve so much of the credit for all the ways in which I've turned out well and little of the blame for my failings.
