I finally started watching Marvel's Runaways on Hulu last night and hadn't realized it was airing weekly (as I think is common for Hulu shows) as opposed to dropping a full season in one go (as I'm used to from e.g. Marvel's Netflix shows). I watched the first 2 episodes last night and got caught up to present (episodes 3-9) on my snow day today.

Before the first episode had even ended, I was like, "I love all of these babies so much."

I know [personal profile] musesfool has complained about it focusing on the parents (I would estimate they get about the same amount of screentime/development as the kids), but I honestly don't mind.

I have some basic familiarity with the comics, but I think I didn't read very far, so I'm not having the tv-comics dissonance that surely many folks are, but I'm at least moderately interested in the struggles of the parents, especially as we learn more about their backstories -- even as I'm also generally on the kids' sides.

Also, I like that the driving villainy is how the Devil offers you wealth and success and then you have to do terrible things to maintain it and then you're trapped because you have to keep doing terrible things to hide the terrible things you already did. And how the parents aren't lying when they say they're doing this all for their kids -- they're trying to provide a good life for them.

Yeah, the comic doesn't really focus on the parents at all - it's very much "what if your parents were supervillains?" And boom! They run away. So it's definitely not what I was expecting.
