[Easter Sunday] service 3 & joy sadhana

Things I learned/was reminded tonight:
1) While I grew up really low church and still identify strongly as such, I get defensive of any liturgy/ritual I have any understanding of.
1a) I prefer my religious "services" to be structured, and this perhaps lends itself to an inclination toward ritual.
2) I really like the idea of doing the Emmaus story as the Communion prep.
Edit: Oh, and Eda said she wishes we would call "Doubting Thomas" e.g. "different epistemology Thomas" -- he just has a different learning style :) /edit

"Joy Sadhana is a daily practice in the observation of joy."

Weeping may come; weeping may come in the night,
When dark shadows cloud our sight.
Joy comes with the dawn; joy comes with the morning sun;
Joy springs from the tomb and scatters the night with her song,
Joy comes with the dawn.

Good things about today:
["anything that you're looking forward to, that means you're facing tomorrow with joy, not trepidation," as Ari says]

Good things about today:
- FCS' Easter Sunday service
- After I finally left FCS (on my way out, I stopped in the kitchen to say hi to some people and we got talking and then I ended up being one of the last 2 people out of the building), I went into the office to use my high-speed office computer (God bless!) for some internetting.
- Scott and I did manage phonecall (and the fact that it lasted 15 rather than 5 minutes turned out to be fine, as apparently the EDS thing is way not structured in a punctual commencement kind of fashion) and have a plan for Tuesday evening attempt at longer phonecall (plus he says he'll be in the office not just Friday but Thursday after he lands, unless his hamstring is really acting up).
- "You are an excellent spy. I am also a nosy motherfucker."
- Mike and Eda drove me home from EDS, and it was nice to get to chat with them, albeit too briefly.
- got up and went to Easter sunrise service
- impromptu Greeted at FCS because I was there a few minutes before the person who'd signed up
- responded appropriately to engagement news (apparently a basic "Congratulations" is not what everyone says?)
- EVENTUALLY found the EDS building I was looking for (I had a printed-out map! it was not as helpful as I had anticipated vis a vis the on-the-ground reality of the campus)
