I do not do well with being off-the-grid.

Okay, I think I need to buy a laptop before I go to Convo.

Even leaving aside my obsessive need to be in connection (ironic use of UMC jargon?) with Certain People, I also think -- given how I've been feeling in recent weeks -- that I'm going to need to have the option of escaping and recharging.  And yes I could bring some good books, but I think being able to be on the internet (by which I mostly mean email and LJ, but also blogs) would be really good for me.

I am considering a tiny white laptop (Asus EEE).  Thoughts?

I've been meaning to buy a laptop. Given that I've traveled with one (borrowed) wrapped in a flannel shirt, I was thinking of also buying a pouch for it. Not the heavy bag, but just sort of a sleeve thing so it's protected in my backpack. You might want to spring for a case, too.

Yeah, when I got a loaner from work they gave me an entire laptop backpack, and I don't really need that since I already have a backpack, but yeah I was definitely planning to get a case of some sort.

I saw something once that really was a snug-ish pouch which I thought was great. You just slide the laptop itself in, not all the cords etc.

The only computer I have is a lap top. It goes where I go, I am constantly attached.
