I'm confused by Alice. She says the kind of sex she like is non-sex (Julie is mock offended and Alice says, "You're like my sister -- it's not really sex") but then she's actually dating Gwendal (I initially thought she was just trying to make Ismael and Julie jealous, plus making herself feel better because she was so on the outside of that pairing at the club).
When Julie's mom (Mireille?) had late-night coffee with Alice, I totally thought she was gonna invite Alice to a threesome. I was also wondering about that moment when Alice and Jasmine stop outside the apartment. I didn't read Jeanne making advances toward Ismael, though. I did call from like the first time we met Erwann that he wanted Ismael, but I totally wasn't expecting Ismael to go for it at all.
Jasmine comes to get Julie's mom (Julie's dad woke up and realized Julie's mom wasn't there).
Julie's mom heads home and says, "Coming?"
Jasmine: "I'll give you ten minutes to yell at each other first."
At the end of the film, Ismael says to Erwann: "Love me less, but love me for a long time."
I think the best of the songs was the one Ismael and Erwann sing about apples (unripe passions, indigestible loves, the worm in the apple slips between your lips and eats away at your heart... stuff like that).

French CinemaThis was disappointing. I wasn't really sold on the chemistry of any of the pairings, and the plot really wasn't what I had expected it to be.

Love Songs (Les Chansons d'amour) by Christophe Honoré (France, 2007, 100 min.). Christophe Honoré furthers his case as one of the most exciting filmmakers of our generation with the exuberant and tender Love Songs. A modern-day musical told through unforgettable songs performed entirely by the cast and scored by Alex Beaupain, the film has overjoyed audiences at the Cannes and Toronto Film festivals while earning recognition in its native country with four French Cesar nominations. In the hope of sparking their stalled relationship, Ismael (Louis Garrel of Dans Paris, The Dreamers) and Julie (Ludivine Sagnier of Swimming Pool) enter a playful yet emotionally laced threesome with Alice (Clotilde Hesme of Regular Lovers). When tragedy strikes, these young Parisians are forced to deal with the fragility of life and love. For Ismael, this means negotiating through the advances of Julie's sister (Chara Mastroianni of Persepolis). Erwann, a young college student (Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet of Strayed), may offer him redemption. In French with English subtitles.
