Last night i was feeling jealous because i was reading other people's LiveJournal entries in which they talked about the fact that it was snowing, but it wasn't snowing here. But now it is definitely snowing and it makes me very happy. My professor in my last class said the expected accumulation is about 3 inches.

snowflakes like stars, falling through the darkness, dusting the ground...

walking back from Davis, tiny tiny snowflakes falling from the sky, with a light breeze...

Also.

Today was the first real winter snow, with multiple inches of snow and all. I didn't enjoy any of it (though walking from the bus to the train at South Station the snow was just falling down like in gauzy sheets or something and it was beautiful) really like i usually do because i was worried about everyone who would be traveling (myself included), about whether they would be safe, whether they would be delayed. I think this is one of the reasons i don't keep hardcore tabs on the weather, because everyone was telling me it was gonna snow and it was gonna be bad and it turned out to be fine. But i also feel like this is one of those coming-of-age moments, when you realize that the snow isn't just pretty, that it can be dangerous and seriously affect people. (Yeah i always knew about shoveling and dangerous driving conditions, but it never really meant anything really.) Yeah, i should go to bed now.

Here's hoping everyone (myself included) is safe and on-time today.

Snow!

After having gotten too much sleep Saturday morning i finally went to bed at 4:40 this morning. I turned off my light and went to bed, which is right next to the window overlooking the parking lot. There was a near opaque covering of snow on the grass in front of my house. I was excited. Dude, with Britta and the Smith pagans it's all about the snow here. :)

My window's drafty, though, so when my grandparents take me shopping over Thanksgiving Break i'm definitely getting some curtains. I'm thinking dark blue. I left most all my sweaters and such at home because during last year's mild winter i never wore them since all the buildings here are so warm. Definitely bringing a lot of them back with me after Thanksgiving Break this year.

Walking to church this morning there was still snow on the ground (though not as much as when i went to bed) and there was that snow smell in the air. I heart that.

I was more excited about the October 23rd snowfall, though. I think because it was so unusual and, hello, first snowfall of the year. I'm used to first snowfall being Thanksgiving time, so i honestly wouldn't mind an autumnal November followed by a snowy December, and January, and February. Then in March it can be cold but maybe not snowy. And then in April it can start to be cool and rainy. Yeah, look at me dictating weather in, of all places, New England.

IT SNOWED!

It fucking snowed!

I woke up and saw that it was wet outside and thought, "Bleh, rainy day," and then i saw that there was white on part of the lawn and i got up and put on my glasses and yes indeed that's snow on the ground.

October 23rd and it SNOWED! Wow.
