Yeah, that comic is so welcome-to-my-life. I actually have a present in mind for gf, but it involves knowing a size, which makes secrecy hard. "How will I ever work ring size into conversation?" think I. But then TOTALLY NATURALLY it comes up in conversation last week and OBVIOUSLY gf has no idea what her ring size is. (I don't know mine either, to be fair). Le pout.

It occurred to me that once in shared living quarters, one could potentially unobtrusively measure a ring she already owns (going through her jewelry box when she is not around). Which does not help with buying gift in advance, but does provide possibility of purchasing this as surprise gift ever.
