hermionesviolinToday was the second day in a row I slept in until ~11, and I think it needs to be the last -- though recalling that I didn't go to bed until ~2:30 in the morning makes the amount of sleep involved seem less obscene. And I even feedbacked some of the fic I read.
I don't know if DownstairsNeighbors returned from the holidays or something, but when I went to do errands around noon there were three additional trashbags next to the house.
And then I saw on the Davis Square LJ community that there are new regulations. Not only do I not want to get fined for trash that isn't mine (I don't understand how five people can overfill three trash barrels; I grew up in a family of four and it was a very rare occurence that we needed two trashbags in a week -- usually our trashbag was only half-full) but I really do not want to hear OriginalRoomie bitching about said fines.
Of course, it says "property owners" and we rent, so I imagine all the fines would revert to Mark -- which begs the question of why we haven't heard anything about this since supposedly mailings went out in mid-December and he's been to the property enough to know we don't have lids for our trash barrels.
On an up note, I just went to pick up my laundry, and there was white stuff falling from the sky. Not much, but still, I was pleased.

City Announces New Trash Guidelines
Mayor, Aldermen Update Trash Storage and Disposal Guidelines to Enhance Health and Safety, Deter Rodents
SOMERVILLE – Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and President of the Somerville Board of Aldermen/Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston announced today that the City has adopted new trash storage and disposal guidelines that will go into effect January 1, 2007. Unanimously approved by the Board of Aldermen in September 2006 after six months of study by the Rodent Control Task Force, these new guidelines include provisions for storage of trash on residential and business properties and new procedures on scheduled trash collection days.

Highlights of the revised ordinance include new requirements that:
* While stored on residential property, all trash must now be stored in waterproof & airtight containers with a lid;
* Trash put out for pickup must remain in a container, but does not have to be covered;
* Containers put out for pickup may not exceed 50 pounds when full;
* Trash stored in other non-regulation barrels or unapproved containers will be considered bulk items: they will be disposed of, but will be considered in violation and ticketed appropriately.
