I wanted to say something about why Faith was with Robin but couldn't really make sense of the pairing my own self, and it seemed in character for Dawn to not get it either.
I'm not that into Faith, though I've read and recced a couple Faith/Dawn (http://www.athenewriter.com/whedonficrecs/dawnfaith.html).
"Royally creepy" was a kind of off-the-cuff phrasing (I wanted to get these finished before I went to bed) so I'm glad it worked.
The Giles ficlet is definitely one of my favorites. I have such sympathy for that mentality, and "my" Dawn does as well.
I also really like ('shippy or no) Dawn/Spike and Tara/Oz.
