Metro today had a thing by a guy who wrote a book, "I Hate Valentine's Day." Article said it adds pressure and gives people the opportunity to screw up. Made me think of Peru. I'd really rather have someone doing something sweet and loving when I was totally not expecting it that the obligatory whatever. Personally, I think Valentine's Day is yet another Halllmark/DeBeers conspiracy .... and speaking of diamonds -- I saw an ad in Vogue for women buying diamonds for their right hand. I so wanted to vomit. Do powerful, assertive, independent women really need to buy themselves overpriced jewelry to prove how special they are? Please tell me that my beloved daughter's peer pool has better sense!
