I'm not sure I see April and Dawn having conversations about free will. Maybe farther down the road they would talk about the implications of being created, but I see them doing more of April learning about life (and man I'm gonna have to try hard not to make her sound like Illyria -- I just stopped using the conditional futurem didn't i? damn.) and of course I have to deal with death since "The Body" comes next in canon. I think I would mostly skip over "The Body," but there would definitely be conversations between April and Dawn about death and creation. And Dawn wouldn't try to bring her mom back. And I would plot something in which April helps protect Dawn so they defeat Glory&co. before anyone cuts on Dawn -- because all Buffy proved is the that they *both* have to die to close the portal. I suspect I would gloss over most of late S5 -- though I would probably still have to decide whether I keep stuff like catatonic!Buffy (I think I would keep victim!Tara for the expediency of finding Glory's tower, but I'd have to reread all the transcripts to figure out exactly how I wanna change canon). I'm far more interested in telling the story of Dawn and April over the summer, where I can focus on the two of them and not have to be thinking about making everything mesh with canon events.
