Your comment *did* confuse me a little bit until I came here and read the rest.

Okay, so it seems we agree that AFAWK, Wash likes being married to a tough woman, but he doesn't like that said tough woman has a stronger loyalty to Mal than to him. (Which I don't think she does, but he thinks she does.)
