I don't have anything to argue or discuss, just wanted to say that I HATED that book too. Holden repulsed me. I read it voluntarily when I was 17, and I'm not even sure how I got through it. Or why, because I tend to not finish books whose protagonists I hate or who don't at least intrigue me in some way.
