I came home from church to the smell of molasses, and someone outside my hall just said it's snowing. Indeed it is. Yay. The rain a few days ago got rid of most of the snow, so i was happy when i heard another storm was coming.

Other stuff... will be talked about in another post.

[edit at 1:33pm: Wow, the cars are coated whiter than i would have expected in such a short period of time. The last time a blizzard was predicted -- last weekend -- i withheld belief since people blow things out of proportion, but if this keeps up it'll be another serious storm. Dinner's early tonight so the staff can get home with a bit more hope of safety.]

My Sunday school class was cancelled due to teacher illness, so we just stood around outside talking for a while, getting snowed on. It was nice, though wet! Then we wandered over to get coffee and lunch (sushi). It's been a nice day so far, though the roads are slow going. Our Mandarin minister was apparently in an accident this morning! But he's okay :)

Don't you find the snow makes you anticipate Christmas just that little bit harder? It does for me.

Yay for hanging out in the snow. (And i'm glad your teacher is okay.)

As i have said before, the snow feels like home to me.

I actually have issues with Christmas. Not so much the issues of whether i actually believe Jesus was Messiah and all (this comes up more around Easter, when i find myself lamenting not having time to research the historical accuracy of the Resurrection, because if Jesus didn't rise from the dead i CAN'T be a Christian, but if he did, i can't NOT be a Christian) but rather because i have issues with what Christmas celebrations focus on -- the idea that this is the season of giving and miracles (implying that no other season is); the obligations to do things for people; the focus on the pretty things (e.g. colored lights, reindeer and Santa paraphernalia -- the whole Santa thing being its own issue). I'm shutting up now.

I think what you would find is, "No one knows." There's the Bible and that's about it. Of course, as the saying goes, "absence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of absence." It was, after all, a long time ago in a place where most people were poor and illiterate.
