Doug's 18th-century novel course looks rather shrug-inducing, but to be fair i'm not familiar with most of the works. Have e-mailed him to see how important it is that we have the specified editions of the works.
Michael's class will add a 3rd giant poetry collection to my shelves -- Nelson's Anthology of Modern American Poetry.
Betsey's class is going to be the bestest thing ever, for the reading list if nothing else.
Required Texts:
BEGINNING WITH O by BROUMAS [I think the epigraph to Hood -- which i've read i think 3 times and is by the same author as Kissing the Witch, see below -- comes from this book. Why yes i am a dork. Don't give me that look like you're surprised.]
BLOODY CHAMBER by CARTER [I read Burning the Boats, which is all her short story collections -- including this one -- in one volume and enjoy the excuse to own it.]
BRIAR ROSE by YOLEN [Own and love this.]
CLASSIC FAIRY TALES: TEXTS AND CRITICISM (ED. TATAR)
GOBLIN MARKET by ROSSETTI [I keep hearing about this and look forward to actually reading it.]
GREAT FAIRY TALE TRADITION by ZIPES
KISSING THE WITCH by DONOGHUE [Love it. Enjoy the excuse to own it.]
TRANSFORMATIONS by SEXTON [It's a crime that i have never read any Anne Sexton.]
Optional Texts:
COMPLETE FAIRY TALES OF BROTHERS GRIMM [I actually own this. Yay Puddingstone and my fairy tale dorkdom.]
DON'T BET ON THE PRINCE by ZIPES
FORBIDDEN JOURNEYS by AUERBACH
FROM THE BEAST TO THE BLONDE by WARNER
TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS OF LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD by ZIPES
TWICE UPON A TIME by HARRIES [I've been wanting to read Betsey's book ever since i first heard about it.]
