Re your post: Good stuff

Re the epiosde: There was some real quickly passing stuff in this episode that did not play very well (the burning hands) and then there was the over the top gratuitious stuff (Angelius and Dru). I noticed that Angel Slash Spike jokes are becoming requirements for each episode this season.

What was interesting with this episode was the idea that was introduced that the creation is catching up and perhaps passing the creator. (Count the reference to the Frankenstien in the Jossverse!)
Anyway Spike has always been a secondary force to Angel. I think the flashbacks were not so much to explore who was morally culpal in the past, but to reinforce the idea that to this point Angel had been top vamp and the point of the episode was to at least introduce real doubt that Angel is the top vampire. The universe being out of order is a metaphor for this. It is not the prophecy and that world that is really out of balance, it is Angel the Television Series, the one based on the baddest vampire ever turned good. In fact, on the entire Angel team there are now questions about who's good and evil.

I don't think Spike is trying to avoid moral responsibility for what he has done, but I think Spike is dead on about why Angel does not like him. Spike's evil has never been spectacularly original. Looking at Spike has to be like actually being able to see his reflection for Angel.
