i will agree, you do write a very thorough commentary of each ep.
i was underwhelmed by this ep as well.
you said:Why did Angel want to sleep on it? (Why did Spike run at Angel in that very first scene, btw? They just cut to a commercial and then i forgot about it.)
I think Angel wanted to sleep on it because he knew he had a knee jerk reaction when Spike showed up. he knows that Spike was ensouled. and he knew everything that happened in Sunnydale. Taking all of that into account Angel could just off Spike and be done with it, no matter how he feels about him.
you said:I loved Angel’s "You asked for the soul, moaned in a basement for three weeks and then you were fine!" Really the whole back and forth between them was great, really laying out how they feel about (each other) being souled vampires as well as about being “champions.”
I also quite enjoyed that remark. In comparison however, it doesn't exactly bother me that Spike "got over it" so quickly. In fact, I don't think he was ever sorry about what he had done as a souless vampire. he never made any apologies for any it. Spike's incident with Principal Robin Wood (*snerk* his name makes me laugh every time i hear it)is a shining example of how not sorry he was. the only thing he was apologetic about was when he attacked Buffy in the bathroom.
