Sort of off-topic, but I'm not a fan of the "WMD" abbreviation. Maybe because "weapons of mass destruction" isn't really long enough to warrant it (IMHO), or maybe because of the lack of vowels.

Honestly, i dislike the abbreviation as well and almost didn't use it (and in fact have edited the entry) because for the longest time i didn't know what it stood for and felt annoyedly out of the loop when i kept seeing it used.

What bugs me about it is that most abbreviations are lazy but cool. The cool usually makes up for the lazy, but "WMD" is not at all cool.

I think both sides are getting rather silly about the weapons of mass destruction issue. To me it is clear that both Bush and Blair pushed for intelligence from their intelligence agencies that did not prove to be accurate. So what? (The fact they were given faulty information needs to be addressed.) The fact is that we eliminated a madman (of our own creation). The fact is we supported Saddam when he had WMD's because Iraq's military influnce in the region was of greater importance than WMD's or human rights. We now have a duty to clean up that country. Let's focus on that.

I do believe that Bush believed in WMD's in Iraq and I think that his belief became administration policy. I don't believe he tried to lie about anything.
