"Medium sized queer person who occasionally enjoys movies"

At Coffee Hour today, someone asked me if I had upcoming plans I was looking forward to, and I talked about the Wicked Queer film festival.

Person: "Oh, are you a big film person?"

I'm not particularly (which I said some words about), but HOURS later it occurred to me that the perfect response would have been: "No; I'm just a big queer person."

(I mean, this also-queer person already knows I'm queer -- and pedantically I'm only medium-sized 😉 -- but still, missed opportunity...)

I think “Elizabeth is a big movie* person” is an early misconception I had, largely because we had a lot of conversations about queer and feminist/womanist critiques of media.

*I always feel uncomfortable using the word “film” to talk about movies, since many of them aren’t even shot on film anymore. I blame [different person] for instilling in me this particular pedantry.
