[climbing] progress
Mar. 5th, 2019 09:13 pmTonight, I warmed up on a 5.9 and then climbed four 5.10As.
Last week I climbed two 5.9s and three 5.10As and was thinking that I'd like my norm for climbing nights to be climbing more 10s than 9s -- I guess I achieved that?
It helps that between last week and this week, another wall got reset so there was an additional 5.9 and 5.10A so there are now four 5.10As that I can actually climb.
I'm definitely not expecting to level up 2 levels in 2019 like I did in 2018 (I think the improvement curve from "climbing somewhat regularly" to "climbing once a week" levels off significantly once you're in "climbing once a week"), but it's barely March so I guess maybe that's not so unlikely?

Also, in the locker room afterward
thedeadparrot was telling me about a March reading challenge with some friends of ours, and I talked about how I'm powering through N.K. Jemisin's SFF short story collection How Long 'Til Black Future Month? since there's a waitlist (so I won't be able to renew my library copy) and she asked me what I thought of it, and I said I didn't like the first story but quite liked a bunch of the ones after that ... and I said a few words about some of them, like "fey in the South before the Civil Rights Movement" and "alchemy and food" and "steampunk Haiti that reminded me a bit of Nisi Shawl's novel Everfair about a steampunk Congo" and another woman in the locker room was like, "What book is this?" (in an interested tone) and when I showed her the book asked permission to take a photo of the cover so she would remember.
