Last summer I started attending a UBI (Universal Basic Income) discussion Meetup -- different topic each week -- and after tonight's session, the facilitators were saying they're gonna do one on socialism and wanted to make sure to schedule it for a week I'll be there. I was like, "I'm gonna need to read some more about socialism before then" -- because I shit-talk capitalism a lot, but I honestly don't have a lot of knowledge about any economic system.

They're also gonna do one on racism (I correctly guessed that the optional reading will be Ta-Nehisi Coates' "The Case for Reparations") and will maybe reschedule it for when I can be there.

I am not subtle about being the most far-left attendee, but it still felt sweet -- especially since I feel like I haven't said a lot in recent weeks (often because I just don't have anything to say, but it's also definitely been true that a few of the attendees Take Up A Lot of Space -- y'all locals should come! adjust the demographic ratios! learn interesting things! I do generally like the Meetup).
