[Good Friday] joy sadhana
Apr. 6th, 2012 09:00 pmIn recent years it seems to me Good Friday has been a bright sunny day. Today it was. Even at 5:30. Yeah, we pushed party from ~2 to 1:30 because I was planning to leave ~2:15 for 3pm services (our monthly parties usually wind down after about 30 minutes) .. and at about 2:35 I remembered that I was considering 3pm services, which was not happening at that point (rushing to be late to a 30-minute Good Friday service? not so much). So I hung out at work (I did get some good stuff accomplished on account of having not been at 3pm service) and got to church ~5:30.
They had Stations of the Cross, which I don't recall from previous years. I didn't do them in order -- both because I didn't grasp the layout initially and also because I was initially hovering toward the back of the Sanctuary (tho I totally felt comfortable taken off my shoes basically as soon as I got in). Each one had a contemporary photograph and some interactive activity. Some of them I had to step away from fairly quickly -- I cannot handle much contemplation on the brutal reality of crucifixion.

"You will prosper, my Servant, you will be raised up and highly exalted. Even as the crowds were appalled after seeing you -- you were so disfigured as to no longer look human -- so will the crowds be shocked at you, and rulers will stand speechless before you; for they will see something never told and witness something never heard
