"who will lead the pilgrim people, wandering their separate ways?"

From my housemate:

According to a newly released report, naturally occuring cosmic rays regularly produce more powerful collisions than the LHC, so the fact that we're even alive to worry about this is a good sign. Cory Doctorow quotes one physicist saying, "Look, it's a 10^-19 chance, and you've got a 10^-11 chance of suddenly evaporating while shaving."

Also, I had not realized that even if they did create black holes, it would take years before said black holes grew enough to completely destroy our world.

MaryAlice's son Tim and his friend Alex (whom I like a lot) were in today.  At lunch I was ragging on Tim a lot.  Not out of any real malice, just because it was so easy.  It was sort of like having Eric around, or my brother.

The Psalm was 107:1-22, which I liked a lot.

The "Sacred Text" was an excerpt from "Fumbling: a Journey of Love, Adventure, and Renewal on the Camino De Santiago" -- by an HDS student.

LauraRuth talked about how it's not so much that we are not saved once and for all but that we are saved a little bit every day.  (Yeah yeah, people would quibble with the orthodoxy of that statement and make insistent statements about the totality of saving grace, and I wouldn't even necessarily disagree, but I really like the shift in emphasis -- in putting the emphasis on the continual, each day, journey to grow closer to the Divine.)
