My favorite Ani lyrics site says she has a new album (evolve) due out March 11. (Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] offbalance.) And indeed, the official site confirms it. And Dar's new album (The Beauty of the Rain) is supposed to come out next month.

You think that you understand what’s going on, but your overly sensitive demeanor can now lead you astray. You see the wounds in others and you want to fix them. You can become so sympathetic that you take care of everyone else except yourself. Don’t become a martyr. And don’t whine about your situation. You can help others most effectively by helping yourself.

Sistersong
Lyrics by Rachael Sage

Everybody's lookin' over your shoulder
Seems thy can't wait to hear what's next
Everybody's sayin' she's lookin' older
Could it be there is a cruel subtext to

All this endless adulation
All this reckless fatuation and

I will stay with you tonight in
Case this corset gets too tight and
I will keep you company 'cause
That's what a sister should be

So they said it was the year of the woman
I believe it was the year of sex
Maybe this'll be the year of the human
Maybe that would be a bit complex for

All this endless aberrations
From meaningful expectations so

I will stay with you tonight in
Case this corset gets too tight and
I will keep you company 'cause
That's what a sister should be

Everybody's lookin' under your mattress
Seems they can't wait to find that pea
Maybe you were never quite the princess
Everybody was afraid you'd be and

All these endless presentations
Must affect your concentration so

I will stay with you tonight in
Case this corset gets too tight and
I will keep you company 'cause
That's what a sister should be

Whoever told me O Brother, Where Art Thou? was a good movie? I had no desire to see it, except for the fact that i heard it was based on the Odyssey. It was the tea movie today. It had good parts, but i don't feel my life much improved for having seen it, and it was based only very cursorily on the Odyssey.

Also, this morning i woke up sick and have not improved. I did get to spend most of my afternoon "at work" reading Stardust, though. Was good, but felt the least Neil Gaiman-y of all his works that i've read so far, and also felt the least original of all his.

She stopped by my room and asked how i was doing. "Eh," i said, explaining that i'd woken up sick. "That's 'eh' indeed. You need a hug." Yay for good hugs. She had to go help Jane with something, but she said she'd be back later and veg some with me. Earlier i was thinking i wanted to just curl up with someone. Also, i'm torn between wanting to complain to people about how differences in political opinion make for rocky friendships sometimes, but at the same time i don't wanna talk about the issue at all. Sigh. We shall see.

And she has a red t-shirt that says KNOWLEDGE in like Moulin Rouge print. I want one.

we get a little further from perfection
each year on the road
i guess that's what they call character
i guess that's just the way it goes
better to be dusty than polished
like some store window mannequin
why don't you touch me where i'm rusty
let me stain your hands

[livejournal.com profile] oatmilk: see. this is totally untrue.
[livejournal.com profile] oatmilk: it's peoples butheaded stubborness than makes it rocky
