This song feels appropriate.

I am tired and hungry and have a headache. My sleep schedule is back to normal, though, and i've actually been productive. I was intelligent in my Milton class this morning and i'm developing something of a plan for getting all my work done.

I heard back from Women Express. They weren't much clearer than the CDO announcement, but they did say, "We have many positions, so if you are flexible and really want to be here, we'll find something for you." It seems that i just pick what area i want to work in and although i may not get an internship position i'll at least get to do some sort of volunteer work. Now i just have to learn how to do an official resume and cover letter.

Posts like this (and this and this) remind me why i support actions like the Day of Silence.

Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you, darling
And I would still be on my feet
Oh I would still be on my feet

Oh, nothing like a good dose of "Untouchable Face" and "Shameless" to pull me out of a funk. Now i'm listening to Little Plastic Castle -- so my favorite Ani album. That album is actually the best of any for pulling me out of a funk.

Also improving my day was getting 3 days to work this summer. I knew i was going to be working at the library filling in for people, that was a given, but it's nice to have some actual hours for sure.

And no, the beautiful weather did not help my mood. Recently it's just made me feel guilty for not spending more time outside. The weather actually doesn't usually really affect my mood. Not that i'm not happy about the warm weather and the flowering that is continuing to happen; it's just not effective in pulling me out of a funk.

I baby-sat this afternoon instead of going to the Y. The kid wasn't feeling well, so mostly we watched cartoons and played UNO. We watched the first 2 innings of the Sox/Royals game before his mom came back -- wining 4-1, baby. Though later i learned that we ended up losing 8-5; the Royals got 4 runs in the top of the ninth. (And the Blue Jays demolished the Yankees earlier in the day: 11-3; can i just say that i am amused by the idea of a team called the Blue Jays totally defeating the Yankees?). [Disclaimer for anyone who doesn't know me: I am not actually much of a sports fan at all, i'm just obliged to root for the Red Sox and hate the Yankees.]

I had a Heath Bar landslide (milkshake w/ candy bar chunks) after Queer Studies tonight, which seemed like a good idea at the time but now i'm feeling a bit sick to my stomach.

Okay, i've been a good kid and turned my computer off every night this week. Why does it still insist on getting wonky after about 12 hours of being on? I actually had to restart it tonight.

From an e-mail from my Lit. Study professor:
I wanted to remind you that the third of our evening panel discussion will take place next Wednesday, the 17th, at 7:00 p.m., in McConnell B-15. This panel, "Why I do what I do" will feature 5 or 6 members of the English department talking briefly about the kind of scholarly projects they do--and how they have made the decisions about interpretive "methods" or "approaches" we have been and will be discussing in class. I know this is a busy time of year--but I think this should be interesting and directly relevant to our work in class. You'll also be able to see a number of members of the department in action, which may help you decide on future English courses.

Of course i'm madly curious as to who these professors are, but i don't want to jinx it by asking if Doug Patey is one of the professors who will be speaking.
