The Kate Hamill version doesn't give the impression that she's taking care of her father (just that she tolerates him), but that makes a lot of sense that Clueless draws on that -- Cher trying to get her dad to drink orange juice (and a general vibe of her wanting him to eat healthy/take care of himself), him constantly yelling at everyone (he's a highly-paid litigator, and seems constantly cranky/stressed)...
