I like the idea of a local fannish brunch.
This year, I'm having trouble finding Yuletide fandoms I want to request, rather than volunteer; I'm just not feeling passionate about anything (or, I wasn't, my intentional focus on potential Yuletide fandoms, including GMW, is helping with that), and for me, I need to be passionate about a fandom before I can request it for Yuletide. I'm lucky in that most of the fandoms in which I write are Yuletide eligible, so that doesn't tend to be a problem (though I do try to stretch myself, too, to make it more of a challenge).
