Perhaps i should have clarified. Layna's friend Cat says that 7 hugs a day are necessary for sanity, so the discussion about whether one can store up hugs was in reference to that (i.e. can getting say a dozen hugs one day tide you through a next day in which you get few hugs?). There definitely is something to be said for the knowledge that there are people who would hug you if they could, even when they can't. And yes, hugs are essential to healthy development.
