Hi - I've come in through the Friends Page at the Zine Community.
Actually, there was quite a bit being said about "the grandchild" at Democratic Underground during the weekend. In a discussion forum following an article about the ethics investigation, many opinions and links were posted concerning the topic. Evidently, Alaskans have been talking about this baby for months...
D-Kos may get blamed for spreading these "rumors," but Talking Points Memo should really get the medal for keeping the story on its home page all weekend long. They're picking it apart like a conspiracy theory over there.
Sarah Palin asked us to respect her family's privacy concerning this matter - now she's flown the baby's father to the RNC so the "dog and pony show" can commence. Next thing you know, Cindy McCain will be throwing a baby shower for Bristol. I personally don't want to use "Babygate" as an argument against Palin, but if it is the only way to get some voters to examine her record more closely, so be it.
Even though the ex-brother-in-law state trooper is not a very nice guy, make no mistake about this: Palin abused her power as Governor when she asked Walt Monegan to fire Trooper Wooten because of personal reasons, AND when she fired Monegan because he refused to do so. The problem is WITH PALIN, who was used to firing people who didn't agree with her while she was Mayor of Wasilla. She was almost recalled when she fired Wasilla's police chief. She also wanted to ban books with "bad language" from Wasilla's library, and fired the library director because of it.
There are so many more stories of lies and corruption concerning Palin, I could not list them all without hijacking your LJ. If you value your rights, do not feel sorry for Sarah Palin for one minute. She has no respect for anyone who does not march lockstep with her beliefs - religious and otherwise. If you value your rights, you will ignore your friend's take on "Troopergate." The Republicans are counting on us to be stupid enough to give them four more years in office. And if you value your rights, you will forgive me for jumping into your LJ from left field, and join me - and Barack Obama - in saying, "Enough!"
Sincerely, Kim - a zine lover and old Democrat from Ohio
