Huh, interesting backstory, though of course a thing always takes on an identity far beyond that of its creator.

Interestingly, i see this as saying something different about society than what you see. I see it as a symptom of something endemic to to "liberalism" -- the idea that no one should be excluded from anything, ever. (Meditations on that idea could lead to interesting discussions about affirmative action and meritocracy, but i'm not really up for going there at the moment.) Though many add the twist that if you've been excluded, you have the right to exclude others. (This gets into interesting issues such as women-only safe space, trans issues, separatist [lesbian] feminism, etc.)

As far as human nature... i think human nature is to separate, to exclude... which is not in an of itself a bad thing.
